The Mission of Fire Crafted is to preserve the rich history of essential firefighting equipment while also protecting the environment from adding nonbiodegradable materials into our nation’s landfills.
Fire Crafted was established in 2024 by a 31-year fire service veteran. Raised by law enforcement officers, public service was definitely a calling for her. Arts and crafting are also in the family blood line. Combining the knowledge of first responder needs with wants of their loved ones into quality products made from retired fire hose, turnout gear, and uniforms.
Firefighters rely on their equipment to protect them while they are protecting others. Fire hose is a critical tool used for various types of firefighting including rubbish, vegetation, structure, vehicle and other types of fires. Hose is typically made of three layers for extra durable use for being dragged through streets and buildings in very hazardous conditions. Wildland firefighting hose is typically one layer of durable hose made to be lighter weight for maneuvering hillsides and extreme conditions. Traditionally fire hose is labeled with stencils and ink by each fire company to identify company number and to what pressure the hose is to be tested to annually. These unique markings can be found in many of the products made by Fire Crafted. Custom stenciling is offered for customers who want to personalize their item for themselves or as a gift.
Turnout or bunker gear is the fire resistive suit worn by firefighters when they enter hazardous environments. Both the coat and pants are made of three durable and unique layers which all play a key role in protecting them as they work in extreme conditions. The suits have a ten-year service life, and when retired are not to be used in the fire service any longer. Fire Crafted has thoughtfully and carefully recycled dozens of pairs of turnout gear into useful products such as firewood caddies, bicycle saddle bags, and hot pads.
Daily work uniforms worn by firefighters are also fire resistive and made of very high quality materials. Fire Crafted proudly upcycles old duty uniforms into hero pillows, which honor and highlight first responders dedicated service.
